BIG CHANGES COMING TO THE BACKUS HERITAGE CONSERVATION AUTHORITY

Extended hours, name changes, and extensive renovations are in the works at the Backus Heritage Conservation Authority.

As part of a two-year strategic plan, many big moves will come into play for 2018.

Park Supervisor Brandon Good says one change is switching the name of Backus Heritage Village.

They are also hiring an Assistant Curator who will help maintain the historical items.

Backus also plans to open up in May as opposed to July.

Another big change is $50,000 going towards Backus that was left to them in a generous man's will. They are looking to fundraise to add more money to that sitting $50,000 and put it towards their Waterfowl Gallery to renovate and make it a bigger draw.

This is a way for the historical site to try and breathe a breath of fresh air in the facility.
