COUNCIL TO LOOK AT IMPLEMENTING MARIJUANA RULES IN NORFOLK COUNTY
1/9/2018 8:24:22 AM

The topic of Marijuana headlines a busy day scheduled at Town Hall today.

The long-awaited Cannabis Production and Processing Policy Review will come before our elected officials.

In it, it includes pages of possible recommendations for council to move forward with.

Norfolk started up a Cannabis Task Force recently to dive deep into the issue and find out what problems may stem with the upcoming legalization of marijuana and from people who grow medical marijuana legally for someone.

In theory, one person could be permitted to grow marijuana for four people who legally need it causing a substantial amount of marijuana depending on the prescriptions of each.

Planner Matt Vaughan, who also spearheaded the task force, says one issue they looked at was the common complaint of odor and noted what people can do now, and that stricter policies could be put into place.

Vaughan says from his research, Norfolk is leading the way when it comes to handling marijuana legalization saying we would be one of the first, if not the first, to put policies in place to guide where marijuana can and can't go in Norfolk outside of giant marijuana facilities.

Council will look at all the possibilities before them and vote tonight.
