THE FATE OF HASTINGS DRIVE TO BE DECIDED BY OMB HEARING THIS WEEK
1/9/2018 7:30:51 AM

Hearings before the Ontario Municipal Board regarding the fate Hastings Drive in Long Point have begun at Governor Simcoe Square.

Debates will be held until Friday if necessary so arguments can be heard from both sides.

At least two cottage owners are calling for restrictive land-use provisions to be put in place, while over 30 other property owners on Hastings want restrictions removed.

Right now, Hastings Drive is considered as a hazard-land area after a major flood washed away cottages in the 80s.

As a result, property owners there are unable to build on their land and are not allowed to camp overnight.

The OMB ruling will likely be decided at the end of the week.
