The bells of Carillon Tower echoed during while a single trumpet played Saturday morning in Simcoe.

Like many towns across the County, a Remembrance Day service was held to honour and pay respect soldiers who fought or continue to fight for our freedom. Some of whom have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Ontario Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell paid her respects in Simcoe this year and couldn't help but be in awe of the tower that stood behind her as she spoke at the service.

Dowdeswell added that it's in small communities like Norfolk County where the true toll of war is recognized.

She also spoke about how well our community does Remember our soldiers, noting the tower and the acts of the Norfolk Remembers group.
