Fire rips through the second floor of an apartment complex in Simcoe.
The blaze broke out just before 1 a.m. on Saturday on Queen Street in Simcoe.
Everyone in the 6-apartment complex was able to escape safely with Norfolk County Fire and Rescue working hard to bring the flames under control.
Fire Prevention Officer Scott Pipe tells myFM that those living in the apartments affected by the fire will be displaced for some time, but the other tenants may be able to return home in few days.
One tenant was able to rescue their dog from the fire, but sadly one cat remains missing while the other perished in the apartment.
The investigation is ongoing, but it is not being treated as suspicious.
The estimated cost of damage is $300,000.
