DON'T FORGET TO CHECK FOR TICKS, HEALTH UNIT WARNS
5/19/2017 7:26:14 AM

The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit is warning people heading outdoors over the long weekend to watch for blacklegged ticks.

The ticks -- also known as deer ticks -- can carry Lyme Disease.

The Health unit says people camping, hiking, or working in the yard should be vigilant and to check themselves, and friends or family members, for ticks.

They say removing ticks within 24 to 36 hours after a bite usually prevents infections.
