Love can make you put on the blinders but, for some, it can also get you pull out that chequebook.

Norfolk OPP is reminding the public to be careful of "romance scams" popping up on popular dating sites.

A Norfolk County woman recently started a relationship with a man online, and after some time, the man began to ask for money as he claimed that several emergencies came up.

In total, this scammer got away with over $850.

Police say always get independent advice - from family members, a trusted friend or advisor -- if any offers involve money, personal information, time or commitment.
