A sell-out crowd at the Delhi German Home on Tuesday evening got up close and personal with candidates vying to become the Conservatives, next leader.

Kevin O'Leary, Lisa Raitt, Erin O'Toole, Pierre Lemieux and Andrew Scheer each gave 10-minute speeches and answered questions as to why they would be the perfect fit to lead the Tories.

Much of the debate surrounded around agriculture and how to help the rural parts of Canada, including Haldimand-Norfolk.

Kevin O'Leary, Lisa Raitt, and Erin O'Toole all agreed that significant changes need to happen to boost the rural economy.

The Conservative leadership debate in Delhi also saw the candidates broadly agree on defense spending, ridding Canada of carbon taxes and getting tougher on immigration.

A new leader of the Conservative Party will be chosen in May.
