COUNCIL'S PROPOSED BAN ON METHADONE CLINIC SHOT DOWN BY THE PROVINCE...FOR NOW
4/19/2017 7:29:33 AM

Norfolk County Council's plan to ban Methadone Clinics from the county for a full year has hit a snag.

The idea was to place an interim control by-law banning these facilities from entering the county until they could decide on proper zoning as some of our elected officials feel that downtown is not an appropriate place for these establishments.

The problem is that less than 3-years ago Norfolk passed an Interim Control By-law banning strip clubs for a year, and under the Provinces rules, you can only pass this type of bylaw every three years.

Staff is still looking at ways to zone Methadone clinics within the county.
