The Norfolk County Public Library is asking budding authors to put pen to paper.

Their annual Write For Fun contest is now underway.

Authors can now start submitting their work.

Library CEO Heather King on what they are looking for

Four categories are starting with kids 9-12, then 13-15, 16-18, then 19 or older.

Larry Dawson was there portraying John Charlton, Norfolk's mascot for Canada's 150th birthday, as the Library encourages people to write about local history or stories for this year's contest - though that is not a requirement.

He spoke to grade 6 students in the Norfolk Enrichment program who were there for the announcement.

Wanda Backus Kelly, Enrichment Resource Teacher, felt this contest and her students were a perfect match.

Deadline for submission is April 21st.

First place in each category gets $150, 2nd place gets $100.
