A boat fire on Turkey Point has sent a woman to the hospital with serious burns. The boat was refueling at the Turkey Point Marina on Friday around 7 p.m. when an explosion occurred causing flames to completely engulf the vessel.

HEALTH UNIT CONTACTED AFTER 86 STUDENTS MISS CLASS AT WALSH PUBLIC SCHOOL DUE TO ILLNESS

The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit were contacted after 86 students missed class at Walsh Public School due to illness. Several parents called in on Wednesday to inform the elementary school that their child would be staying home sick.

Norfolk OPP are investigating an alleged sexual assault that took place in Waterford. On Wednesday, between 12:45 p.m. and 1 p.m., a female was walking down Main Street South when a male inappropriately touched her on the sidewalk.

A little boy is looking to raise money to send other kids with a disability off to camp. Easter Seals helps send children to overnight camps during the summer, something 10-year-old Everett Nichol, who happens to have Cerebral Palsy, enjoys and wanted to make sure others could too.

An open air fire ban is once again in effect for Norfolk County. This does include family fireworks on Canada Day. The only exception is for cooking fires contained in barbeques or on approved camp grounds. If caught with an open fire during that ban fines could be laid.
