This isn't welcome news, but it's true all the same: Norfolk County is due for rate increases. Our elected officials will be looking at the annual User Fees and Service Charges report with this year's report suggesting several spikes across the board.

Vigils will be held across Canada today to mark the 26th anniversary of the Montreal massacre. On this day in 1989, gunman Marc Lepine entered the Ecole Polytechnique and murdered 14 women before he committed suicide.

POLICE INVESTIGATING ARSON IN SIMCOE

Arson in Simcoe. The Norfolk County OPP were contacted on Sunday, at around 5:30 a.m., after a resident woke up to a smoke alarm in a vacant apartment on Stanley Street. The resident attended the upstairs unit and was able to extinguish most of the fire, stopping it from spreading.

The Norfolk County OPP has released the name of the 68-year-old woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle in Delhi on Thursday. They confirm earlier reports that it was Nancy Chartrand.
